Keith Haring began making art in New York in 1980 simply by drawing on subway advertising planks. He sensed that this was a good way pertaining to him to be able to express his work towards the public. New Zealand delivered Chris O’Doherty has been making pop-art under the name of Reg Mombassa seeing that about 80. His first works became famous for the t-shirts of a well known Aussie surf manufacturer, Mambo.

Haring’s “Best Buddies”, produced in 1990, is very simple, two-dimensional and brightly coloured. Created from a silkscreen print, it is simplicity is supposed to attract attention and immediately convey the message that friendship is good. The statistics have no clear sex or race, which usually puts forwards the communication that companionship is for anyone and everyone. In contrast, Mombassa’s interpretation with the biblical landscape of “The Temptation” is highly detailed with strong shades, and delivers many complicated messages.

The obvious message is today’s temptation of material items, represented by toaster, and the violence and crime for solving society’s problems, which can be represented by the gun. This kind of ‘Garden of Eden’ is placed in Australia’s outback, displaying that Mombassa’s main effect is Aussie society. Every artwork is usually conveying a unique strong social comment, and presenting this in different ways. Haring has used bright, striking colours and dark lines to put frontward the meaning of the vigor of a friendly relationship, through two unidentifiable fuzy figures.

Therefore Haring has left the fiar to decide what race and sex the figures happen to be, reinforcing the purpose that these elements are not essential when choosing your buddies. This is compared to Mombassa’s thorough image of a well known biblical picture, using good colours and a slightly even more realistic general picture. The simplicity of Haring’s artwork conveys the social communication instantly,  where as Mombassa’s artwork requires the rebatir to study and analyse the detail and hidden messages behind the image. Haring developed his simple artwork for the active lifestyle pertaining to the general public inside the city Ny. The image is easy and speedy to absorb and thus is more tremendously appreciated by busy day-to-day viewers.

The greater leisurely life-style of Australia in the nineties was able to remember to appreciate the difficulty of Mombassa’s detailed art work. Due to this, it had been easier intended for the public to deconstruct the numerous messages hidden throughout the art work. Both music artists have been capable of reach the masses through t-shirts and also other publicly uncovered works and also have become very well accepted by general public. Their particular work features served to influence various people with the message that they portray and also have become part of every day life.

Their art has become worn in t-shirts by simply people all over the world for decades.
