So, you seriously decided to look for a job? The first thing you need to do is to create your resume, which will be your faithful companion in the process of finding a new position. A resume will also help in the process of interviewing in different companies. Actually, the document is the most important component of your success in going through the process associated with employment.

Check your goals before writing

You need to have a clearly defined plan of finding a job. First, you must decide what you want from your future employer. Each person, getting a job, pursues quite specific goals:

  • To increase income;
  • Get good career prospects;
  • Gain new professional knowledge and skills;
  • Find a job in a large and well-known company, etc.

It is necessary to highlight for yourself the main parameters by which you will evaluate the future employer and the company in which you plan to get a job.

Resume importance during the interview

If suddenly in a conversation with an HR manager or another person who will conduct the interview, you will be anxious, then you will not be able to reveal yourself entirely, and show all your advantages. In this case, you will need a resume, which should fully and clearly describe all your achievements and opportunities. It is even possible that a well-written resume will immediately remove several questions that an employer has prepared for you. Thus, you will not have to answer them.

A perfect and well-written resume will not tell ultimately everything about you. It will just show that you are:

  • Literate enough;
  • Able to correctly express your thoughts;
  • Describe everything that you have achieved in your career plan.

If the resume is not written correctly or clumsily, then this can be a big minus for you when hiring. Therefore, sitting down to write a resume, carefully concentrate, and think about everything that you would like to mention in it.

Any resume can be directed both to a specific company or to a certain number of companies if you intend to try yourself in several places. Depending on this, your resume will be either more individualized (taking into account the requirements and subtleties of a particular organization) or more generalized.

Resume outline peculiarity

Each resume should contain several sections to make it easier to read. You should not describe your entire autobiography in it, and focus only on the essential things:

  • Training;
  • Career;
  • Achievements.

Resumes are usually compiled according to a specific model. All resume templates are approximately similar to each other, and they have standard sections that are mandatory for the applicant to apply for a new job.

The first section is the name, surname, age, and contact information. Check that your contacts are entered correctly so that the employer can contact you without any problems.

This usually follows the section in which the applicant should indicate the reasons for seeking a new job as well as what he/she expects from it. Try to avoid pathetic phrases such as: ‘I want to help the employer’s business flourish’, etc. The employer will immediately understand that you are writing this in order to please him/her.

Also avoid common phrases, such as: ‘I want to get a starting position in big business’ – in this case, it is simply not clear what you mean. Write more specifically, namely the name of the position for which you are applying. You also do not need to indicate as your goal the receipt of money (this is understandable) or the development of a new profession (no one wants to train you).

If you cannot formulate your goals and objectives correctly when looking for a new job, then you can skip this point altogether.

Sections of a perfect resume

In the sections ‘Work Experience’ and ‘Education’, you need to indicate the place of work and study in reverse chronological order. Do not forget to note all achievements during work or study, and special marks (awards, diplomas, etc.).

All these little things will turn into a big plus for you. In the ‘Education’ section, indicate not only higher education, but also continuing education courses and other courses and training that helped you to learn new skills. You can also highlight this in a separate section – ‘Further education’.

In the ‘Additional skills’ section try to indicate everything that may be useful in your work:

  • Computer skills;
  • Knowledge of foreign languages;
  • Driver’s license;
  • Ability to quickly type;
  • Knowledge of specific computer programs, etc.

You can also add a section ‘Additional Information’. This section is quite lengthy and may include many subsections — for example, your personal qualities, hobbies, and hobbies, marital status, etc. Here you can describe everything that seems useful for a particular job.

If you are writing a resume for a specific employer, do not forget to take into account the vacancy features. Thus, try to include in the resume those qualities that will be most useful like, for example:

  • Sociability;
  • Stress tolerance;

This section has no restrictions, and here you can describe everything that you consider necessary. However, do not forget the rule: ‘Do not praise yourself too much’. It will look ridiculous.
