Helen is usually an example of women’s problems caused by men. “You didn’t understand I wasn’t mourning Stefanus’s death. Sue felt that her marriage was deathly after Stefanus’s death she felt free.

Outside her house the yard is stuffed with figures typically facing east, representing they are looking towards metropolis of Mecca. Helen’s Mecca is a metaphor of flexibility and creativeness. On page 23 Elsa expresses her feelings towards women’s privileges, because these types of rights will be supported by legislation. “She provides a few legal rights, Miss Helen…”. Elsa expresses her feelings freely, she’s a open-handed person to represent women that believe in girls rights and freedom of speech.

She believes that every person gets the freedom of speech in spite of gender, age or contest and should go to town freely.
