In the prologue of Picking Cotton by Jennifer Thompson-Cannino and Ronald Organic cotton, Jennifer i visited her daughters’ soccer game while her husband and son was out binding. While your woman was at the overall game, Ronald great daughter Raven showed up to look at Brittany’s game and to hang out with Jennifer.

In chapter one particular, Jennifer and Paul, her boyfriend at the time, had got back from Pauls’ friends’ party in which Jennifer started getting a pain behind her eyes. Since she was not feeling well, Paul acquired her some water and some aspirin and rubbed her back right up until she droped asleep. Paul slipped out while Jennifer was sleeping. A few hours after he remaining Jennifer awoke to the appear of feet shuffling. The girl looked about and did not see anything at all so the lady went back to sleep. Afterwards, the lady felt some thing gaze her arm. The lady covered her head after that looked over next to her evening stand and seen the top of someone’s head. Your woman asked who was there. A male then sprung up and sat onto her legs and held a knife to her neck. The girl was then raped in knifepoint.

In part two Jennifer left her apartment in Burlington and went to stick with her mom in Grandfather Mountain for a while. It was 3 days after her rape when the Burlington police referred to as to have Jennifer come check out some photos. Detective Gauldin layed down six photographs of black males. “The pictures had been dealt just like card: six on top and six on the bottom. ” Jennifer was told to take her time and study each picture carefully. Your woman was able to pick which one she was great was her rapist. Eleven days after her attack, Jennifer was called in do a line up. There were eight guys lined up in front of her. She was told that her rapist may or may not be one of these. They had the process of identification, then she was able to identify number five because her rapist. Afterwards Private investigator Gauldin informed her that it was precisely the same guy this wounderful woman has picked through the photos.

Through the process I was wandering why the lady just placed there when ever her rapist was resting on her. Why didn’t the girl fight back? For what reason didn’t the lady leave to get help sooner? I also miss why Paul asked her if your woman liked getting raped. Why would anyone like being raped? Is actually all just a terrifying method. I how to start how the lady could remain so quiet. I would become terrified if this had happened to my opinion.

So far I really like this book. It’s interesting and it makes you would like to read more when you put it straight down. I likewise came to the conclusion that Paul is known as a dick. She has rude and conniving.
