The writer demonstrates that individuals realise that which we have only when a shattering event occurs. Trough characterization, foreshadowing and symbolism, Morris infers that once we realise what we possess, it’s in its final stages. The character prospect of what he sees has plainly changed right from the start to the end of the account. At first, the lifeguard noticed the beach just as a way of becoming seen and appreciated by the girls and envied by the other guy.
He was narcissistic, ‘‘Girls clung to my own stand, […] and I could do zero wrong” (p. 98) and the way having been always talking about how much he loved his body, and it built him shed the real reasons why he was at the beach. He planned to be admired by persons on the beach front.
But when a young child almost perished in his adjustable rate mortgage because he had not been really aware of what was occurring near him and his incapacity to save Becky started to trouble him. Thus he went to Mrs. Lovenheim’s house, where he realised a thing profound for the emptiness of his live. He thought he had almost all what this individual wanted, however the most important was missing, real love.
Mrs. Lovenheim was showed as a mark superiority of throughout the account. As it moves along, he maintained talking about just how Mrs. Lovenheim was constantly looking at him. It built him pleased; otherwise he’d not have talked about her all along the story.
For him, the fact that the women was looking at him was a resistant that he was admired by other people for the beach, that he was superior to people about him. Nevertheless the deliverer of Becky did not known ‘‘It abruptly occurred to me that she had no idea who have I was, that she’d never really seen myself at all”. So he thought having been the real california king of the seashore, but this kind of made him realised he had all incorrect. Maybe every what this individual saw was wrong, maybe all he described was false.
Therefore , what he had taken for granted was no longer what was the day time before. He may have to consider everything beneath another point of view. But the stage is that Mrs. Lovenheim utilized to be the mark of admiration he needed, but as he saw your woman barely recognized him, his world connected. In conclusion, Mary Morris shows that we need to enjoy whatever we have when we have it, because if we lose it, it can be on your mind pertaining to long time, and you might regret not to have taken happy times out of it.
The author has been able to illustrate it through his usage of portrayal, foreshadowing and symbolism. Mcdougal showed why it is important to address what we have got, because a little nothing could make us lose it all.
