Stephen Blackpool, on the other hand could be regarded as being from the other side in the tracks. Having been a poor guy and performed in Bounderby’s factory being a weaver. The language that Dickens’ uses to spell out the world that Blackpool is usually from is fairly depressing. This individual tells us the Gradgrinds live at Stone Lodge. This kind of name itself conjures up and image of a mini fortress surrounded by luxurious, green grass. He explains Stephen Blackpool’s environment as a place ‘where Nature was as strongly bricked away as eliminating airs and gases were bricked in’ and ‘the whole a great unnatural family, shouldering and trampling and pressing one another to death’. He also lets us understand that Stephen looks much over the age of his forty years because of the your life and environment he is coming from. Poor Stephen loses his job for standing up for his coworkers and also left Coketown in order to find work elsewhere. When ever Bounderby’s Financial institution is conned, Stephen is seen by him as the likely think because he is usually poor, was fired and has no cash. Ben Gradgrind, the son of Thomas Gradgrind is the excellent example of somebody who was obviously raised within a proper way, but hasn’t lived up to his upbringing. Rather, Thomas Gradgrind tries to conceal his son among the community circus performers until he can find a way to get him out of the nation. He is not at this point led by the facts. He is led by his heart and for the love of his child, so this individual contradicts himself. Bitzer is known as a child that was trained by Gradgrind. He comes to the festival to capture younger Gradgrind and bring him in to Bounderby. He does this because he thinks he will be provided with young Tom’s job and this seem to be in his best interest. He ignores the give incentives to for money that Mr. Gradgrind promises and reminds his former tutor that ‘the whole interpersonal system is something of self-interest’. This is a thing Gradgrind taught his learners and it has come back to bother him.

Even though this new centers within the different cultural classes, there exists an underlying communication that Dickens wants someone to grasp. We have a certain way that the prestige in this novel speaks and it is easily understood. Those regarded lower category speak in a different way and at moments it is extremely hard to understand what some of the characters assert. The reader could tell by the language used by the Gradgrinds that they had been educated as well as the way Sophie Blackpool spoke was quite annoying.
